Koyasan has been constructed in 816 by Kobodaishi (Kukai) and has function of religious (buddhism) city.
The flat area of this religious city with elevation around 800m is spread in roughly 3km of east-west and 1km of north-south.
First of all, you can go up with 'Koyasan-Sankei-do trail' from the station of Gokuraku bridge, Nankai dentetsu.
The elevation gain is approximately 330m.

Nyonindo hall is located at the entrance of Koyasan which has been used for ladies who are all prohibited to enter the city in the old time.

Shukubo means the guest house operated by monks and their association to welcome for all guest. Guest should keep their rules such as closing time at night and can enjoy nice monkfs vegetarian food and calm night. There are 53 shukubo and total number of the temple is 123 in the city.
In syukubo 'Zofukuin', wifi is available in the front room and you can enjoy the morning monkfs ceremony.

There is nice travel guide App and be recommended to install in your iPone. After that you can hear the English explanation when you touch your mobile to the each locations.

You can see the nice view for west side (Shikoku island) from Daimon gate.

Kongobuji temple is very wide and has a beautiful Japanese dry garden. In addition, you will have small tea service in the hall.
